The Digital Vermeer House was conceived as a mindspark in the summer of 2001. A massive amount of work was put into its development. It was presented to the public during a Grand Opening on January 17, 2003

Scientific consultants

Assistant Professor Dr. ing. Henk J. Zantkuijl, consultant on architectural restoration, Hoorn, The Netherlands.

Art historian Marieke de Winkel (Rembrandt Research Project), consultant on dress, Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

The Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam provided generous support, providing both research facilities and abundant museum image material.
